The outdoor track and field teams of Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Voorheesville and Guilderland sent many athletes to the state qualifiers last Thursday and Friday at Shenendehowa High School. The state competition is scheduled for this coming Friday and Saturday at Union-Endicott High School in Binghamton.

Clearing the hurdles: Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Ahmeik Robinson competed in the Division 2 110-meter hurdles. Robinson qualified for the finals with a time of 16.26, then in the finals he finished in seventh place with a time of 17.03.

Getting some encouragement: Guilderland’s Hannah Durant clears the hurdle in the 100-meter hurdle as her teammate Maddie Lebel cheers her on from the start. Durant finished in sixth with a time of 16.82.

Guilderland will be sending three to the state competition this week. Leading the pack, Guilderland’s Noah Tindale won the 1600-meter run last Friday with a time of 4:19.45. Tindale will also be competing in the 800-meter dash by winning the event with a time 1:56.38.

In a pack: Guilderland’s Noah Carey ran in the 3200-meter event last Thursday. Carey came in second and qualified for states with a time of 9:28.92.

Leaping her way to states: Guilderland’s Isabella Bruno finished in second but qualified with a distance of 36 feet 11.25 inches. Guilderland’s 4 x 800-meter relay team qualified as well by winning with a time of 7:57.25.

Easy clear: Voorheesville’s Braden Racey competes in the division 2 pole vault state qualifier last Thursday at Shenendehowa High School. Racey finished in fourth with a height of 12 feet 3 inches.

Running is a breeze: Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Xzavier Rich, left, runs alongside Guilderland’s Luke Groves in the 800-meter state qualifiers. Rich finished in third place in Division 2 with a time of 2:00.94 while Groves finished in eighth place in Division 1 with a time of 2:02.13.
