Thomas Walls of Berne presses on in his cross-country walk that will take him from the Atlantic (Pilgrim’s Rock) to the Pacific (San Diego). Walls  took a break over the Memorial Day weekend to spend time with family and friends, and set out again Tuesday on the  Erie Canalway Trail, a welcome relief from walking on highway shoulders, he said. He has the Berkshires under his belt, the highest elevation on his planned route until he reaches the Texas Panhandle. The 38-year old man carries about 40 pounds on his back and pushes  about the same amount in his heavy-duty stroller.  The Princess Bride T-shirt? A movie fan, Walls hopes to see a few along the way.
