Photos: Three Dutch Sectional Champs, Sail To State Qualifiers

On Wednesday, May 25, the Guilderland Dutchmen track team took part in the Section 2, Group 1 sectional championships held at Colonie High School. The girls’ team finished second with 149 points and the boys’ in ninth with 18 points.

Cool sailing: Guilderland’s Issac Hilton flies through the air after leaping off the block in the boys’ long jump event. Hilton finished in 13th with a distance of 18 feet, 1 inch.

Dominant trio: Guilderland’s Kendall Barnhart, Parker Steele, and Maeghan Hickey are locked in as they clear the hurdles in the girls’ 100-meter event. Hickey won with a time of 15.25 seconds as Barnhart finished second with a time of 15.62 and Steele finished third with a time of 15.84.

Power hurl: Guilderland’s Charlie Mulligan follows through as he releases his discus. Mulligan finished in second with a distance of 126 feet, 11 inches.

Flying to a title: Guilderland’s Avery Kerr leaps and clears the bar easily in the high jump portion in the pentathlon. Kerr won with a total of 2,441 points.

Leg power: Guilderland’s Lauren Kinley twists her body as she prepares to release her discus. Kinley finished in third with a distance of 105 feet, 6 inches. Kinley finished in third in the shot put event with a distance of 34 feet, 5.50 inches.

Strong right arm: Guilderland’s Cadence Brewer prepares to release her discus. Brewer finished in second with a distance of 106 feet, 10 inches. Brewer won the shot put event with a distance of 37 feet, 0.25 inches.

Battle to the line: Guilderland’s Will Cusato, right, battles Saratoga’s Ryan Bush and Niskayuna’s Daniel Malatesta down the main stretch in the boys’ 800-meter run. Cusato finished second with a time of 1:56.44, was third but Bush got disqualified.
