This summer, Susan Togut will create an art installation along the Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail between Main Street and Grove Street in Voorheesville. Art on the Rail Trail, a not-for-profit known as ART, has placed five murals along the Rail Trail. Togut has created other outdoor installations, above, and describes the inspiration for her Voorheesville work, titled “Crossroads: Transforming Uncertainty,” this way: “The village of Voorheesville evolved at the dawn of the 19th Century, when two railroads, heading west from the Hudson River around the Helderberg Mountains, crossed one another in a farm field. This farming community, known for its apple industry and railroads, grew various fruits, potatoes, and grains among other crops. Importantly, the building of railroads established this small village as a crossroads.”
