The track-and-field athletes of Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Guilderland ran, jumped, and threw in hopes of winning sectional titles and also making it to the State Qualifiers on May 30 and 31 at Shenendehowa. On Tuesday at Fonda-Fultonville High School, the BKW team ran hard with the girls finishing eighth and the boys finishing 10th. On Wednesday, the Dutch team, at home, had four first-place finishers.

Flying Bulldog: Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s Silas Ayi jumps over the hurdle in the 110-meter high-hurdle event on Tuesday afternoon. Ayi finished sixth with a time of 16.43 and also finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 18 feet, 9.75 inches.

Going far: Guilderland’s Isabella Bruno leaps from taking her third step in the girls’ triple jump event. Bruno won the triple jump with a distance of 39 feet, 4 inches and won the long jump with a distance of 17 feet, 10.5 inches.
