Vietnam vets get their due: Last Saturday, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7062 in Altamont held its annual Loyalty Day. This year’s theme was about welcoming home Vietnam veterans. Local vets that served in Vietnam are Wayne Knotek, Ed Czuchrey, Bill Kosek, Michael Hoag, Jim Haas, Ed Ackroyd, and John Chesnut.

“What freedom means to me…” was the topic for the Altamont Elementary students to write for the annual Loyalty Day contest. Here, second-place winner Samantha Staubach, holding an American Flag, which was given to all who attended, reads her essay to the crowd. Livinia LaDuke was first and Liam Searing was third.
