Proper flag disposal: Richard Filkins, left, a United States Navy veteran and former Westerlo Town Board member, prepares to place a worn American flag in the new receptacle at the Weserlo transfer station. With him is Scott Leslie, a retired sergeant first class who directs the Albany County Veterans Service Bureau and helped secure the receptacle. Flags will be distributed to local American Legion posts for a disposal ceremony.
