The Voorheesville Blackbirds faced Ichabod Crane in the Class B quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon in Valatie. The sixth-seeded Blackbirds upset the third-seed Riders 6-4 to play Saturday in Johnstown at 1 p.m. against Albany Academy.

Starting pitcher Pat Foley throws a pitch in the first inning. Foley started off slow but got into a rhythm. Foley went the distance for seven innings, giving up eight hits to go long with his two walks and two strikeouts.

Bringing the lumber:  Dalton Esposito broke the game open in the sixth inning with a two-run double but was thrown out trying to go to third base. The hit broke the game open for the Blackbirds after Connor Hennessy got the birds first hit to start the sixth.
