Photos: Blackbirds on the Run

A quick shower passed through Voorheesville during the Blackbirds’ only home meet of the season; other planned meets had been nixed due to weather. Tuesday was Senior Night, as the Blackbirds faced off against Ichabod Crane and Watervliet. The boys lost to Ichabod Crane, 98.5 to 42.5, but beat Watervliet, 111 to 20. The girls also lost to Ichabod Crane, 89 to 38, and beat Watervliet, 89 to 22.

Running solo: Blackbirds' Leah Weber, part of the girls 4 by 100-meter relay team, runs uncontested in the event. The relay team won with a time of 58.5.

Gliding over: Blackbirds' Sophia Stampalia breezes over the hurdles in the girls’ 100-meter hurdle event. Stampalia finished second with a time of 13.29.

Breezing through the competition: Blackbirds' Mariem Sayahi made it look easy in the girls’ 3000-meter run. Sayahi won the event with a time of 11:20.

Jump ahead: Voorheesville's Phoenix Homer leaps over the hurdle in the 110-meter high-hurdle event. Homer finished in second with a time of 21.20 and then won the pole-vault event at a height of 8 feet.

Maximum effort for Evan Ensslin in the 400-meter run. Ensslin won with a time of 52.0 and then went on to win the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.2.

Heave ho! Voorheesville’s Blake Luther puts his shot during the meet at home on Tuesday afternoon. Luther had a distance of 33 feet.

By a foot: Voorheesville’s Collin Prancel attempts to clear the bar at 7 feet. He made it, finishing second, with a height of 7 feet 6 inches. His teammate, Phoenix Homer, came in first.
