With the season winding down and the games becoming more important to make a push for a good seed in sectionals, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Bulldogs girls’ softball team and the Voorheesville boys’ baseball look to help their cause. The Bulldogs lost, 5 to 2, to Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville on Monday afternoon, pushing their record to 1 and 8. The Blackbirds lost to Lasalle, 10 to 1, with a record of 8 and 7.

BKW played well but had one slip-up in the sixth inning that tamed the young Bulldogs. Just sliding by the Bulldogs’ Laura Simpson is safe at home before the tag from the Wolves’ catcher in the first inning. Simpson had one hit in three at bats and scored a run.

Dominant in the early going: Bulldogs’ Miranda Grzywaczewski threw five-and-one-third innings, giving up five runs, all earned, on two hits with seven walks — most of them came in the sixth inning — and struck out three.
