Photos: Blackbirds Battled The Cold Against Bulldogs And Indians

It was a cold and windy Tuesday, April 18, for the Voorheesville Blackbirds’ track team as they took on Cobleskill-Richmondville and Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk at Cobleskill-Richmondville High School. The girls’ team beat RCS (93-37) but lost to Cobleskill-Richmondville (83-58). The boys fell to both RCS (78-44) and Cobleskill-Richmondville (84-46).

Quick start: Voorheesville’s Olivia Allington breaks cleanly from the starting blocks in the 100-meter dash. Allington finished third with a time of 14.2.

All close together: Voorheesville’s Jake Zanello, right, battles along with other runners including teammate TJ Andrus in the 100-meter dash. Zanello finished in second with a time of 11.9 and Andrus finished sixth with a time of 17.9.

Cruising: Voorheesville’s Merrin Brick leads the pack down the front stretch of the 1500-meter run as the official shows how many laps are left. Brick won with a time of 5:22.3 and teammate Julia Young finished second with a time of 6:24.00.
