The science of stand-up comedy: Noah Cohen-Greenberg, a Guilderland High senior, talks about the question he researched: Can stand-up comedy be compressed into a set of joke formulas? Behind his display at the Guilderland Public Library on Saturday is artwork by elementary students in the Guilderland schools. Five high school students presented the research each conducted independently under the tutelage of school librarian Bernard Bott.

Student to student: Febronia Mansour, right, a senior at Guilderland High School, tells her classmates about her research on the model system organism called Caenorhabditis Elegans, a transparent, glowing worm. She worked with a lab team at Albany Medical Center to study the worm’s nervous system under genetic conditions that are often associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Mansour hopes to pursue a career in biology, doing neurological research.
