Get low: Jake Cornetti-Skott, middle, who scored three goals for Guilderland on Tuesday, pursues a ground ball between two Columbia players. The Dutchmen were ahead, 6 to 1, and then behind, 8 to 7, before winning, 13 to 10. “We know we’re better than that,” Guilderland’s Ryan Fish said when asked about Columbia’s comeback after the game. “Even though we were down, we were able to rally and make sure to get the win. We can work together — just have to make sure that we do.” Gus Schwenk and Tucker Peceri also scored three goals each for Guilderland.

Warrior: Guilderland attacker Gus Schwenk chases after a Columbia opponent on Tuesday during a game in East Greenbush; he scored three goals and had one assist in the 13-to-10 win for the Dutchmen. Guilderland had a comfortable lead, but “too much thinking,” said Head Coach Sean McConaghy, led to Columbia grabbing the lead in the third quarter. “We needed to figure out team defense and communication,” added the coach. “Remain calm, and make the next play.” Kevin Dyer had three assists and two goals for the Dutch.

Long pole vs. short pole: The Dutchmen lacrosse team moved to 2-1 on the season with a 13-to-10-road victory over Columbia on Tuesday. Here, defender Tyler Hess, right, clears the ball for Guilderland. The Dutch had a 7-to-2 lead in the second quarter, but the Blue Devils scored six unanswered goals to take an 8-to-7 lead in the third quarter. Instead of stopping the momentum of the game with time outs, Guilderland Head Coach Sean McConaghy said that he let his players try to “stop the bleeding on their own.” Guilderland responded, going on a 6-to-2 scoring run to win the game.
