Four local charities — Guilderland Food Pantry, Hilltown Food Pantry, Caring Closet, and Altamont Food Pantry — each received a check for $4,000 during a check-presentation event at Phillips Hardware; Jonathan Phillips is pictured at center in the blue sweatshirt. The funds were raised jointly during the holidays by the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce, Phillips Hardware, and contributing residents and businesses, along with assistance from The Altamont Enterprise. Additionally, Phillips Hardware raised $1,000 for the YMCA Turkey Brigade, $2,000 for Toys for Tots, and $35,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The next fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation is the Abbott Phillips Memorial Golf Outing at the Orchard Creek Golf Course on Sept. 3.
