Jim Ryer, who works at Altamont Orchards, takes a last look at one of the three bobcats he brought to Outpost 4 Wildlife Rehabilitation Services last summer after their mother stopped tending to them. On Sunday morning, the three healthy cats disappeared in a blur, one by one, back to the wild.

Eric Brown who with his wife, Linda, runs a rescue operation for hurt or abandoned wild animals on their farm in Duanesburg, prepares to release the third of three bobcat siblings on Sunday. The Browns cared for the cats for nine months, training them for the wild by feeding them food live.

Stepping out: The third of three bobcats is tilted out of his crate. The Enterprise is not disclosing the location out of concern for the bobcats’ welfare. The cat takes a cautious look before leaping to freedom in a wild flash of fur.
