The Week of the Young Child, April 12 to 18, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, is being celebrated by the Voorheesville Community Preschool, which took part in Project Sleepyhead. The children, under the direction of their teacher, Renée Crisafulli, collected over 30 pairs of new pajamas and bedtime stories for Things of My Very Own Inc., a not-for-profit that provides crisis intervention to children in abusive situations. "Some of them flee with only the clothes on their back," says Crisafulli. The preschool is holding an open house on Saturday, April 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; limited openings are available in the afternoon program for 4-year-olds.
