Goodbye, hair: The Guilderland baseball team raised over $2,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long healthy lives. On Sunday, the Dutch players had their heads shaved at the Irish American Club in Amsterdam in solidarity with children fighting cancer. Here, Ryan Curry smiles under the clippers; he got the loudest cheers from his teammates. The event raised over $30,000, said Guilderland assistant coach Chris Yager, who is a professional firefighter in Amsterdam; Zach Malitz raised over $1,000.

Shave line: Dutchmen baseball players get their heads shaved on Sunday in Amsterdam during a fund-raising event for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises money to fight childhood cancer. “All the kids wanted to do it,” said Chris Yager, Guilderland’s assistant coach, who brought up the idea during a practice. “They really bought into this, and it’s way bigger than the game of baseball.” The Dutch are supposed to compete in a tournament in New Jersey this weekend.
