On Saturday, March 2, the Guilderland indoor track team competed at the Staten Island Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex against the best of New York State. The Dutch will be bringing home 12 medals.

One giant leap: Guilderland’s Kirsten Barnhart takes her final step during her first attempt in the triple jump as she flies towards the pit. Barnhart finished 14th with a distance of 35 feet, 11.25 inches.

In a battle: Guilderland’s Addison Vellekoop battles with Shakers Leonni Griffin as they make the turn in the 600-meter run. Vellekoop finished fifth in federation and 3rd in the state with a time of 1:34.99.

Fast times: Guilderland’s Kendall Barnhart, right, gives the baton to teammate Avery Kerr in the 3400-meter intersectional relay. Barnhart ran the 300-meter portion and Kerr the 600-meter portion as Section 2 finished second in the state and federation with a time of 10:16.95.
