Both Guilderland teams advance in sectionals with big wins Tuesday

Rising high: Guilderland’s Rebecca Golderman soars over the hands of two Colonie defenders on Tuesday evening to score two of her nine points in Guilderland’s 56-to-39 victory over Colonie in the Class AA sectional first round game at Colonie High School. Elizabeth Eckhardt led all Dutch scorers with 17 points.

Power move: Marc Du Moulin goes up strong for Guilderland against La Salle’s Xyler Woodward during the first half of the Dutchmen’s 75-to-50 Class AA sectional first round win Tuesday night at Guilderland. Du Moulin led the Dutch with 19 points, including an emphatic dunk in the second half.

Tip off: Guilderland ninth-grader Olivia Baumann out jumps a Colonie player after the ref throws up the basketball to start the Class AA sectional first round game on Tuesday evening. Baumann had seven points for the Dutch in its 56-to-39 win. Guilderland plays on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Shaker High School against top-seeded Shaker.

And one? Guilderland’s Vincent Simeone drives to the hoop to score two of his seven points as La Salle’s Nicholas DeLollo apparently fouls Simeone; his arm smacks across Simeone’s face, but no foul was called. The Dutch won, 75 to 50, on Tuesday evening, and will move on to play Christian Brothers Academy on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Hudson Valley Community College. Guilderland is the second Suburban Council seed in Class AA.
