Photos: Runners Heat Up On The Track, Dutch Send 12 To States
On Saturday, Feb. 10, Guilderland, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, and Voorheesville indoor track teams battled to qualify for the state competition on March 2 in Staten Island. Guilderland qualified 12 for the state competition.

No cutting the corner: Guilderland’s Eryn Tynan (3), Kara Whiteside (6), Rebecca Kleiber (1), and Tara Iyer (7) make the turn during a lap in the 1000-meter run. Tynan finished in 8th with a time of 3:16.94, Whiteside finished 7th with a time of 3:15.96, Kleiber finished 9th with a time of 3:18.16, and Iyer finished 13th with a time of 3:26.08.

Friendly battle: Guilderland’s Octavius Flowers (3) races against teammate Jack Gregory (4) as they make their way around the track in the 300-meter run. Flowers finished 4th, and will be part of the intersectional relay team at states, with a time of 37.92 seconds and Gregory finished 11th with a time of 39.85 seconds.

Neck and neck: Guilderland’s Maya Wojcik, left, runs next to her teammate Kendall Barnhart in the 300-meter run. Wojcik finished 14th with a time of 46.70 seconds and Barnhart finished 4th with a time of 42.41 seconds and will be part of the intersectional relay team at states.

Working together: Guilderland’s Addison Vellekoop (1) and Avery Kerr (3) along the inside of the track as they battle Shaker’s Leonni Griffin in the 600-meter run. Vellekoop finished second with a time of 1:40.35, qualifying for states, and Kerr finished 4th with a time of 1:41.93 and will be part of the intersectional relay.
