Alice Corcoran’s family and friends from the Lynnwood Reformed Church in Guilderland were on hand to help her celebrate her 100th birthday on Jan. 19 with flowers and a cake. Corcoran, who paints, knits, writes haiku, plays golf, and bowls, has been getting therapy at Kingsway Arms Nursing and Rehabilitation Center since a recent fall, according to her daughter, Grace Thedinga. For years, Corcoran would not only open her Guilderland home to classes of young students that would visit from nearby Lynnwood Elementary School, but she would also give every student a teddy bear she knitted herself.
