Mary Hennessy holds a Bible as her father, William, takes the oath of office. Hennessy won third term to the New Scotland Town Board in November. He was the top vote-getter in the four-way race for two seats, garnering 31 percent of all ballots cast. ​

Can you “here” me now? The newest member of the town council, Bridgit Burke, takes her oath of office on a New Scotland telephone book held by her husband, Lou Schick. When asked why she took her oath on a telephone book, Burke said it’s because she’s “here for the people of New Scotland.”

New Scotland Town Clerk Diane Deschenes takes the oath of office at the town’s annual reorganizational meeting. In the November elections, she received more votes, 2,086, than any other candidate who ran for a town office; she was unopposed. Deschenes has been town clerk since 2000.

New Scotland Town Supervisor Douglas LaGrange leans in to kiss his wife, Anita, after taking the oath of office on his great grandfather’s century-old Bible. He was elected to his third term as supervisor in November. A smooth reorganizational meeting followed the swearing-in ceremony; all of the town board members are Democrats.
