Awards and achievements

These local students have recently distinguished themselves:

Luke A. Peleggi of Slingerlands has been inducted into St. Lawrence University’s chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honorary society for economics. Peleggi, a member of the Class of 2014 at St. Lawrence, is majoring in economics. Peleggi graduated from Bethlehem Central High School;

Benjamin Goes from Guilderland High School is a winner in the 45th annual national Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship Competition, granted to high school seniors for the best all around presentations including a explanation of why they are planning careers in government service.

Goes has a black belt in martial arts and remodels homes. He has awards for excellence in English, science, and math and writes for the school newspaper. He is in the Masterminds Competitive Academic Club is a member of the track and field team, the tennis team, and volunteers at Capital City Rescue Mission, and the New York Regional Food Bank;
