Hilltowns Senior News for Wednesday, August 14, 2019
Hilltowns
This past Saturday, the Hilltown Seniors met for our monthly meeting. We read our reports and then turned our attention to our guest speaker — Tracy Gibeau, executive director of the Albany County Rural Housing Alliance who gave us information on grant and loan programs to help assist households with home repairs and purchase of a first home.
She sent around some give-aways and left some literature for those who might like to take it home and read it.
Trips ahead
Then we talked about our upcoming trips. We will be visiting Cape Cod and all of us are excited and ready for some fun! We will be leaving from Westerlo at 8 a.m. and from the Hilltown Access Senior Center at 8:45 a.m.
Then we will be going to the Lake George Dinner Theatre on Wednesday, Sept. 18, to see the production of “Lunch with Mrs. Baskin.” Yes, we still have openings if anyone would like to sign up. The cost is $60 for members and $81 for non-members. Always a fun time in Lake George and we need to know by Aug. 22. Let Shirley Slingerland know as soon as possible.
Altamont Fair
Some of us have submitted entries to the Altamont Fair Craft Building, so stop by and see the entries and you can also visit with me on Friday or Saturday evenings.
And for those interested, seniors, veterans, and Grange members are admitted for free on Wednesday until 6 p.m.
A fine lunch
We thanked the kitchen committee and enjoyed a fine lunch! See you all next month where we will be sharing some memories of the past.
And, remember: Senior Citizens are those who bring out the best in you and not the stress in you!
