Hilltowns Senior News for Wednesday, January 19, 2022

The Hilltown Seniors gathered for their monthly meeting at the Berne Community Senior/ACCESS (Albany County Center for Essential Supportive Services) Center where the tables were adorned with favors for one lucky person at each table. Thanks to the kitchen committee for surprising us with this great idea.

We read our monthly reports and talked about the services offered here at the center. The meal site is on hold due to COVID, but we are waiting for the word so we can once again be up and running for some great lunch times with friends.

Our book club is planning on resuming in March where we will be discussing our many reads while having lunch at one of the many venues available in our area.

The travel chairperson updated us on the trips that are being planned and we are so ready to get on the road again. We will be traveling to Lancaster, Pennsylvania in May to see a couple of shows and then we will take a trolley tour of Hershey, Pennsylvania. Excitement is in the air!

If you would like to join us, call Shirley Slingerland at 518-797-3467 or let me know and I will add you to the list. You can reach me at 518-779-5111.

Then in August we are planning a trip to the Ark Encounter in Kentucky — details are in the works. Ark Encounter is a Christian creationist theme park that features a large representation of Noah’s Ark based on the Genesis flood narrative contained in the Bible. Contact me for further information.

We celebrated anniversaries and birthdays with joyous singing and then I noted that we were also celebrating another birthday, that of Elvis Presley! I had the audience participate as I read a story and the participants acted out their parts — what a hoot!

We are blessed to have such great talent in our group. We ended with prayer and proceeded to have lunch, with much thanks for this month’s kitchen committee — delicious! See you all next month!

Happy New Year!
