The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of   Dec. 9. Call the senior office at 356-1980, ext. 1048 for any questions or information.

Monday: Scheduled shopping, aerobics at 9 a.m., senior fitness at 10:30 a.m., Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 a.m., and Strong Bones Plus at 1:30 p.m.;

Tuesday: Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m., holiday luncheon at Mallozzi’s clubhouse at noon;

Wednesday: Scheduled shopping, cardio circuit at 9 a.m., Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 a.m., senior fitness at 10:30 a.m., needlecraft at 1 p.m., and Strong Bones Plus at 1:30 p.m.

Thursday: Scheduled shopping, Strong Bones at 9 a.m., Mahjongg at 12:30 p.m., Pinochle at 1 p.m.; and

Friday: Scheduled shopping, painting at 10 a.m., Bridge at 10 a.m., and quilting at 1 p.m.

HEAP program

Cold months approach and heating costs increase. People with monthly incomes under: $2175 for one person, or $2844 for two people, are eligible for the Heating Assistance Program called HEAP. This grant can be received each heating season and goes directly to the heating company. The amount of the payment to each person is determined by income, living expenses, and type of fuel used. Applications to the program are now available in the senior office, and if you need assistance, please call to set up an appointment.

Bridge lessons

Bridge lessons are available for  an 8-week session of a 2.5 hour class held once a week the cost  for the material is $25. Call the senior office at 356-1980 ext. 1094 for more info. Class will be arranged depending on interest.

Red Cross presentation

Be Red Cross Ready teaches effective steps people can take to protect themselves and loved ones during emergencies. BRCR is composed of three simple steps that include building an emergency preparedness kit, making a plan, and staying informed.  Citizens CPR is a non-certificate program that shows how to effectively perform hands only CPR.

This program is on Jan. 9, 2014 at 11a.m., at town hall. 

Be Red Cross Ready is approximately 45 minutes long; and Citizens CPR is about 15 minutes.

Please call the senior office to register by Jan. 2.

Holiday open house

At the Schoolcraft Cultural Center on Sunday, Dec. 15 from, 2 to 5 p.m., all are welcome to this open house.
