The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of Nov. 12. Call the senior office at 518-280-7607 with any questions or for information. The location for senior services is 141 Bavarian Way. For transportation, call 518-356-2920.

— Monday: Veteran’s Day town hall closed;

— Tuesday: Luncheon the hot meal to be announced or cold plate at 11:30 a.m., food pantry raffle at noon; bingo/Rummikub at 12:30 p.m., and town hall class of Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m.;

— Wednesday: Scheduled shopping, exercise at 9 a.m., fun fitness at 10:30 a.m., needlecraft at 1 p.m., Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. at the town hall; 

— Thursday: Scheduled shopping, scheduled legal appointments exercise at 9 a.m., yoga at 10 a.m., pinochle at 12:30 p.m. and Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m. at the town hall; and

— Friday: Scheduled shoppin, painting at 9:30 a.m., intermediate Bridge at 12:30 p.m. and quiltingat 1 p.m.

HEAP program

We expect HEAP (Heating and Energy Assistance Program) applications for new enrollees to arrive in our office on Nov. 13, and we would be happy to assist seniors in completing them.  Income guidelines apply. Please call to schedule an appointment at 518-280-7607.

Meals on Wheels substitute drivers needed

If you are interested in volunteering “once in a while” for about an hour and half this is an opportunity for you. Meals are delivered to Guilderland/Altamont resident’s weekdays. Please call MaryAnn at 518-280-7607 for further information.

Donations accepted

We accept donations of wheelchairs and walkers for the purpose of lending them out to those in need of them on a temporary basis. The walkers we give away to those who need them. The needlecraft group accepts donations of yarn and keeps busy making blankets, hats, mittens and baby items for donations to Christ Child, Bellevue Hospital and shelters. The quilters accept donations of fabric for charity work.
