The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of Oct.8. Call the senior office at 518-280-7607 with any questions or for information. The location for senior services is 141 Bavarian Way. For transportation, call 518-356-2920.
— Monday: Closed for Columbus Day holiday;
— Tuesday: Luncheon to be announced or cold plate at 11:30 a.m., food pantry raffle at noon; bingo/Rummikub at 12:30 p.m., and town hall class of Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m.;
— Wednesday: Scheduled shopping, exercise at 9 a.m., fun fitness at 10:30 a.m., needlecraft at 1 p.m., Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. at the town hall;
— Thursday: Scheduled shopping, exercise at 9 a.m., exercise at 10 a.m., JCC/Sammy Davis Jr. at 11 a.m.; Mahjong and Pinochle at 12:30 p.m., and Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m. at Town Hall; and
— Friday: Scheduled shopping, painting at 9:30 a.m., intermediate bridge at 12:30 p.m., and quilting at 1 p.m.
HEAP
We expect HEAP (Heating and Energy Assistance Program) applications for new enrollees to arrive in our office on November 20, and we would be happy to assist seniors in completing them. Income guidelines apply. Please call to schedule an appointment at 518-280-7607.
Thanksgiving dinner deliveries
Thanksgiving Day preparations are in the works by Equinox, Inc. for their 49th Annual Equinox Thanksgiving Day Dinner. Please contact the Senior Office to make your dinner reservation by Nov. 2 at 518-280-7607
Learn about Medicare
Oct. 25, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. come to the Guilderland town hall for Learn about Medicare.

Will you soon be 65? Come learn how Medicare works. You will be informed of all the factors that you should consider when making your choices. Are you already in Medicare but still having questions about your coverage options? There are Medicare counselors trained to help you understand your choices and options. Attend a presentation designed to provide you with an understanding of Medicare and the choices available to you.
Having trouble paying your Medicare premium or related medical expenses? Find out if you may qualify for Federal assistance with your medical expenses.
Meals on Wheels Substitute Drivers Needed
If you are interested in volunteering “once in a while” for about an hour and half this is an opportunity for you. Meals are delivered to Guilderland/Altamont resident’s weekdays. Please call MaryAnn at 518-280-7607 for further information.

Senior Expo
There will be a Senior Expo on Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crossgates Mall.
Senior Services of Albany and CDPHP Medicare Choice present this day-long exposition is the largest and most widely recognized trade show for older adults in the Capital Region; featuring exhibitors who cater to the 60+ population and their families from life, health and long term care insurance, housing, home health services, home repairs and modifications, city and governmental services, trips and recreation, finances, volunteerism, and much more. Health screenings, health-related activities, and entertainment will highlight the event. The event will also include a raffle.

— 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Flu Shots and Pneumonia Vaccines;
— 10 a.m. to noon, RPI Design Lab Demonstration;
— 10:30 a.m., Meals on Wheels Food Tasting;

— 12:15 to 1 p.m., Introduction to Technology Devices; and
— 1:15 to 2 p.m., Aging in Place: Your Home for Your Lifetime.
