The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of Sept. 15. Call the senior office at 356-1980, ext. 1048 with any questions or for information.

Monday: Scheduled shopping, aerobics at 9 a.m., Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 a.m., senior fitness at 10:30 a.m., Strong Bones Plus at 1:30 p.m.;

Tuesday: Strong bones Plus at 9 a.m., blood pressure reading from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., luncheon of beef stew or cold plate at 11:30 a.m., food pantry drawing at noon, and Bingo/Rummikub at 12:30 p.m.;

Wednesday: Scheduled shopping, Cardio Circuit at 9 a.m., senior fitness at 10:30 a.m., Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 a.m., needlecraft at 1 p.m., and Strong Bones Plus at 1:30 p.m.;

Thursday: Scheduled shopping, Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m., scheduled legal appointments, Lake George dinner theater at 10 a.m.,  Mahjongg at 12:30 p.m., and Pinochle at 1 p.m.;

Friday: Scheduled shopping, painting at 10 a.m., Bridge at 10 a.m., quilting at 1 p.m.

the Citizens Preparedness Corps provides an introduction to people as to how to respond to a disaster, whether that is manmade or natural. 

This presentation gives families the foundation needed to be prepared if a disaster strikes. This includes the importance of a family emergency plan, and having emergency supplies stocked up and put into an emergency kit. One must be aware of what is happening around them and knowing where they need to go or what they do if a disaster occurred. 

This presentation gives individuals the information they need to be fully prepared for any emergency they might encounter.

Movie

On Sept. 25, at 10:30 a.m., in the Guilderland town hall courtroom join us for Ladies In Lavender.

Reservations should be made by Sept. 18, thorugh the senior service office at 356-1980, ext.1048.

This movie takes place in pre-war England, where two aging sisters befriend a mysterious foreigner who washes up on the beach of their 1930’s Cornish seaside village. The sisters nurse him back to health and discover he is Polish. His boat was on its way to America for a better life. They also discover he is a gifted violinist. It doesn’t take long for the sisters to become attached to this man, however, other townspeople have their suspicions about him.

The movie is 104 minutes and is rated PG-13 for brief strong language.

Fashion show and

luncheon

Please plan to join us at the fashion show and luncheon at The Cider House Restaurant, Orchard Creek Golf Course, Dunnsville Rd., in Altamont on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at noon.

Fashions are by Liz’s Closet and modeling by our senior ladies.

Your luncheon choices are: Tomato and rosemary braised pork loin with mashed potatoes or Parmesan crusted chicken over pasta primavera.

Tickets are available in the senior office through Sept 30. at a cost of $20 per person.
