The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of June 25. Call the senior office at 518-280-7607 with any questions or for information. The location for senior services is 141 Bavarian Way. For transportation, call 518-356-2920.

— Monday: Scheduled shopping, aerobics at 9 a.m., senior fitness at 10:30 a.m. and Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the town hall;

— Tuesday: Senior trip Lake George lunch cruise at 10 a.m., luncheon of macaroni and cheese or cold plate at 11:30 a.m., bingo/Rummikub at 12:30 p.m., and town hall class of Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m.;

— Wednesday: Scheduled shopping, senior strength and balance at 9 a.m.,  senior fitness at 10:30 a.m., needlecraft at 1 p.m., Strong Bones Plus at 10:30 or 1:30 p.m. at the town hall; 

— Thursday: Scheduled shopping, Silver Sneakers at 9 a.m., Silver Sneakers Yoga Stretch at 10 a.m., art and culture trip to Mabee Farms at 10 a.m., Mahjong and Pinochle at 12:30 p.m., and Strong Bones Plus at 9 a.m. at Town Hall; and

— Friday: Scheduled shopping, painting at 10:30 a.m., intermediate bridge at 12:30 p.m., and quilting at 1 p.m.

Strawberry Festival and Fundraiser

The Christ Lutheran Church at 1500 Western Ave. will be hosting a Strawberry Festival and Fundraiser on June 9 from noon to 4 p.m.

Included are strawberry shortcake (Homemade biscuits) with Stewart’s ice cream, hot dogs, German potato salad, beverages, baked goods, books and a raffle.

Medicare

Learn about Medicare on July 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Will you soon be 65? Come learn how Medicare works. You will be informed of all the factors that you should consider when making your choices. Are you already in Medicare but still having questions about your coverage options? There are Medicare counselors trained to help you understand your choices and options. Attend a presentation designed to provide you with an understanding of Medicare and the choices available to you.

Having trouble paying your Medicare premium or related medical expenses?  Find out if you may qualify for federal assistance with your medical expenses.

Please call the office to register for a presentation by July 6.

Permanent Driver and Substitute Drivers Needed

A permanent driver is needed for Fridays approximately one hour of the day 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. to deliver meals to a specific route of approximately six people.

A substitute driver would be needed “once in a while” for about an hour to deliver meals to a specific route. Meals are delivered to Guilderland/Altamont residents’ on weekdays. Please call 518-280-7607 for further information.

Medical equipment wanted

If you have any unwanted or unused wheelchairs, transport chairs, walkers or canes, please feel free to drop them off at our Senior Center at 141 Bavarian Way.

Philadelphia Orchestra

Aug. 2 join us for the Philadelphia Orchestra at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Preceding the performance we will dine at the Hall of Springs.  

The Philadelphia Orchestra is one of the preeminent orchestras in the world, renowned for its distinctive sound, desired for its keen ability to capture the hearts and imaginations of audiences, and admired for a legacy of imagination and innovation on and off the concert stage. The Orchestra is inspiring the future and transforming its rich tradition of achievement, sustaining the highest level of artistic quality, but also challenging—and exceeding—that level, by creating powerful musical experiences for audiences at home and around the world.

The deadline for this program is June 29. This is Wade Tours and will depart at 11 a.m. and return at 5 p.m. The cost is $72.

Dinner theater

On Sept. 19 at the  Lake George Dinner Theater come with us to enjoy “The Long Weekend”. A hilariously tangled web of truths, deception, and surprises leaves the audience guessing – and laughing – all the way to the final curtain!

Choose from one of the following entrees to enjoy before either the matinee or evening show:

Medallions of Beef with bordelaise sauce, served with roasted potatoes

Seared & Roasted Pork Tenderloin Medallions with maple honey mustard demi-glaze (gf)

Broiled Atlantic Salmon with lemon dill Hollandaise, (gf if ordered w/o sauce)

Vegetarian Lasagna

All entrees served with salad, rolls, roasted red potatoes, vegetables, dessert & coffee or hot tea.

Murder mystery

On Oct. 17 join us for The Georgian Resort Murder Mystery “Off The Rails”.

Do you think you can, think you can solve this high-speed mystery? You better buckle in for a bumpy ride, because things may get a little crazy her in 1911. You’ll just love your journey on the Old Mill Express. With targeting tycoons, savage psychics, hard-hitting journalists, and mouthwatering food; this murder has it all! Lunch will include a chicken and beef duet.

Aug.  31 is the deadline for registration. This trip will be on Brown Coach departing 10 a.m. and returning 4:30 p.m. at a cost of $64.
