Princetown

The Princetown Seniors are hosting a trip to Honesdale, Pennsylvania to visit a museum with artifacts of Lincoln’s assassination.

The movement to nominate Abraham Lincoln as a presidential candidate for the Repubican Party began in a house in Honesdale in May 1859.

The trip includes a one-and-a-half-hour train ride with lunch and a visit to a museum with a replica of an early steam train. In 1829, the first commercial steam locomotive in the country, called the Stourbridge Lion, ran from Honesdale to Seelyville, three miles away, and back, earning Honesdale the title Birthplace of the American Railroad.

Dinner is at Brooks House of BBQ in Oneonta.
