Altamont Senior News for Wednesday, November 20, 2013
The Altamont Seniors met at the St. Lucy/St. Bernadette Parish Center on Tuesday, Nov. 19, for our annual Thanksgiving luncheon. The entrée consisted of roast turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls, and a side of mixed fruit.
We were served a dessert of pumpkin pie topped with a dollop of whipped cream.
Many thanks to the anonymous donor who has been providing the pumpkin pie treat from Altamont Orchards for many years.
Following lunch, we enjoyed creating a centerpiece. A small hollowed-out pumpkin was the base, which was then filled with an assortment of dried garden plants.
We thank the following people who provided the materials and assisted us in creating the lovely centerpieces: Linda Cure who works for the town’s Parks and Recreation Department; Judith Wines, the director of the Altamont Free Library; Suriya Wines, Judith’s young daughter; and Sara Jenkins, Guilderland’s town gardener.
It was fun.
Next Tuesday, the Altamont Elementary School kindergarten class will be joining the seniors. We look forward to their visit.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Editor’s note: Anna Marie Seiz is the Seniors’ co-chair.
