The Third Thursday Book Club is reading “As Bright As Heaven” by Susan Meissner for the month of January.  You can pick up a copy at the library. The discussion will be Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. in the library.

December Spice

Take-and-Make

The December spice is sage.  Pick up a sample and three recipes at the library.  This month’s recipes are Parsnip Chowder with Crispy Sage; Pumpkin Risotto with Bacon, Gouda, and Fried Sage; and Spinach and Sausage Gnocchi with Sage.

STEAM ahead

December’s theme for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) take-and-makes is optical illusions. There are new kits every week.  homework-help packets are still available too.

Holiday closings

The Westerlo Library will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and again on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
