Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, December 11, 2019

The stockings are hung by the fire with care in hopes that you will come read all snug in a chair. The library awaits with books, audios, and DVDs. Let’s not forget the wifi is always free. So stop by and join us for story time, Lego Club, or a cup of warm tea. You are always warmly welcome at Westerlo Library

Board games and puzzles

Do you enjoy playing board games and putting together puzzles? The library has a selection of both for you to enjoy here in our Hannay Community room. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while working on a puzzle. Come play a game or two with your friends. The community room is a great place to spend time together.

Memoir Writing Group

The Memoir Writing Group will meet Saturday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. This group provides its members a safe and supportive place to learn together. Led by Lila Hollister Smith, the group is open to all who are interested in self-expression through the art of writing. The group meets once a month on the second Saturday of each month and new members are welcome.

Book talk

Do you love reading? Then come share the books that you have been reading this month with the group. The Library’s books discussion group will meet Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. No assigned reading for this Books Discussion Group. New members are always welcome! We meet in the Hannay Community Room.

Artists’ Group

The Artists Group will meet Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 2:15 to 4 p.m. This group provides its members an opportunity to make art together in a spirit of fun and support. Led by Lila Hollister Smith, the group meets the third Tuesday of the month in the Library’s Hannay Community Room, which is also an art gallery.

Beginners are welcome. Bring paper and pencil. If you can sign your name, you can learn to draw!  Experienced artists bring your favorite medium.

Dog therapy for all ages

Shorty, the therapy dog will be at the library to offer a quiet, lovable, companion who enjoys being petted. Having a tough day, week or month, then come spend some time with Shorty and relax for a bit. He will be here 4 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16.

Story time

Join Miss Lee Wednesday mornings beginning at 11 a.m. for stories, songs, and movement activities designed for infants to children up to five years old. Storytime is a great opportunity for caregivers and young children to meet new friends and start on the road of a lifelong love of reading.

Lego Club

Do you like playing with Legos? How tall of a tower can you make? Can you design a secret hideaway for your favorite superhero? Drop in on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to play and create with Legos. Miss Lee is also available for homework help.
