Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, December 8, 2021

This month, the Westerlo Library's Third Thursday Book club is reading “The Huntress” by Kate Quinn. The novel tells the story of Russian Nina Markova, who, during World War II, joins the “Night Witches,” a group of female bomber pilots who attack the Germans.

 

The Westerlo Library Board of Trustees is meeting Monday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. in the Hannay Community Room at the Library.  This meeting is open to the public.

December Spice

Take-and-Make

The December spice is sage. Pick up a sample and three recipes at the library. This month’s recipes are Parsnip Chowder with Crispy Sage; Pumpkin Risotto with Bacon, Gouda, and Fried Sage; and Spinach and Sausage Gnocchi with Sage.

Third Thursday

Book Club

The book club is reading “The Huntress” by Kate Quinn for the month of December. You can pick up a copy at the library. The discussion will be on Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. in the library.

STEAM ahead

December’s theme for STEAM (science, technology, engineering, aart, math) take-and-makes is optical illusions. There are new kits every week. Homework Help packets are still available too.

Holiday closings

The Westerlo Library will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
