Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, December 1, 2021

On Friday, Dec. 3, at 2:30 p.m., Senior Services of North America will give a presentation about Medicare and supplemental insurance options at the Westerlo Library.  Bring your questions.

The library will be participating at the Town of Westerlo Tree Lighting on Dec. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Westerlo Town Hall at 933 County Route 401 in Westerlo. Come have some hot cocoa and cookies by the campfire, visit Santa, sing some carols, decorate an ornament for the town tree, and write a letter to Santa to kick off the holiday season.

The December spice is sage. Pick up a sample and three recipes at the library. This month’s recipes are Parsnip Chowder with Crispy Sage; Pumpkin Risotto with Bacon, Gouda, and Fried Sage; and Spinach and Sausage Gnocchi with Sage.

The book club is reading “The Huntress” by Kate Quinn for the month of December. You can pick up a copy at the library. The discussion will be on Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. in the library.

December’s theme for STEAM (science, technology, engineering art math) take-and-makes is optical illusions. There are new kits every week. Homework-help packets are still available too.
