Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, November 27, 2019

There is a chill in the air but the Westerlo Library is always a warm and welcoming place to come and enjoy quiet time by our fireplace in our reading room or social time in our community room.

We have laptops that you can borrow to use in the library, printers, and a fax machine. You can also read a magazine, newspaper, or put together a puzzle. We have free Wi-Fi for you to connect to.

Holiday 

On Thursday, Nov. 28  the library will be closed. 

Wishing everyone a very happy Thanksgiving! The library is open on Friday, Nov. 29 so be sure to come in and borrow some of our free books, movies, CDs, magazines. The library is the best place to be on Black Friday! 

Board games and puzzles 

Do you enjoy playing board games and putting together puzzles? The library has a selection of both for you to enjoy here in our Hannay Community room. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while working on a puzzle. Come play a game or two with your friends. The community room is a great place to spend time together.  

New time for book talk  

Do you love reading? Then come share the books that you have been reading this month with the group. The library’s books discussion group will meet Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. No assigned reading for this Books Discussion Group. New members are always welcome! We meet in the Hannay Community Room.

Dog therapy for all ages

Shorty, the therapy dog will be at the library to offer a quiet, lovable, companion who enjoys being petted. Having a tough day, week or month, then come spend some time with Shorty and relax for a bit. He will be here 4 to 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2.  

Story time  

Join Miss Lee Wednesday mornings beginning at 11 a.m. for stories, songs, and movement activities designed for infants to children up to five years old. Storytime is a great opportunity for caregivers and young children to meet new friends and start on the road of a lifelong LOVE of READING. 

Lego Club 

Do you like playing with Legos? How tall of a tower can you make? Can you design a secret hideaway for your favorite superhero? Drop in on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to play and create with Legos. Miss Lee is also available for homework help. 

Technology Walk-In Wednesdays

Do you have a new smartphone or tablet, but don’t know how to download digital materials?  Need to brush up on your computer skills – or obtain basic skills? See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free, personalized, one-on-one instruction. 

Homebound delivery service 

Can’t make it to the library? Maybe you’ve had surgery or just don’t drive anymore. If you – or a friend or family member – would like to take advantage of borrowing books, movies and audiobooks, your public library is standing by to help!   

Our Homebound Delivery Service is a free library delivery service provided to the residents of the Town of Westerlo who are unable to visit the library. If you think this service might be right for you – or a friend or family member – call (or visit) the library during regular business hours at 518-797-3415.  

Art exhibit

Something for everyone! ”I enjoy depicting atypical subjects or looking at typical subjects from unusual angles.” Peter Keitel’s exhibit which includes painting of parts of vehicles, vibrant florals and geometric shapes from urban buildings are currently on display in the Hannay Room. The show will be at the library through the end of January, and can be seen during regular library hours.
