Westerlo Library Notes for Tuesday, November 17, 2020

The library will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, in celebration of Thanksgiving. I have so much to be thankful for this year!

I am especially thankful for the amazing library staff, which continues to find new and creative ways of reaching out and supporting our community with programs, copies (a lot for the Department of Motor Vehicles), faxing, technology help, answering reference questions and processing all of our new materials that you take out!

We all love it when you call or stop in to catch up with us. We, at the Town of Westerlo Public Library, wish each and every one of you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Spice Take and Makes

November’s spice is nutmeg. This kit includes recipes, information on the health benefits and history of nutmeg and some of the spices to make the recipes. For everyone who loves to try new recipes this is the take and make for you. There is also a goto meeting set up for talking about what recipes your tried and to chat about food in general. Information about the meeting is included in the kit.

STEAM Kits:

Human Body

We are all thankful for our healthy bodies this month so let’s learn about how they work! Stop by the library each week to pick up new kits or you can email and request to have it put out on the porch for a pick up.

Technology Wednesdays

Do you have a new smartphone or tablet, but don’t know how to download digital materials? Call 518-797-3415 or make an appointment to see Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free personalized, one-on-one instruction.

Homework help

We have special hours that you can bring your own laptops into the library to print out assignments, ask us for extra help or get help with school/homework. Mondays from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m.

Of course, you are always welcome to come in and ask for help with your school or homework. Don’t forget! Our WiFi is available for free 24/7 in our parking lot.

GoToMeeting Help Video

Until we can have in person programs, we will be offering virtual programs. These programs are shared through GoTo Meetings. We have a video on our website www.westerlolibrary.org to help explain the basics of how to use GoTo Meetings.

Most of the time all you need to do is click on the links that are given on your computer, tablet or smartphone or call into the meeting. You will need to get the GoTomeeting app. If after watching the video you have any questions, please call the library at 518-797-3415 during our regular hours and one of our staff will be happy to help you.
