Jessica Perrin Barcomb, who lives in the Hilltowns, will speak about her debut novel, “Letting Go,” at the Westerlo Library on Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Wanted!

The Westerlo Library is seeking a public-spirited resident of Westerlo to serve on its board of trustees. The library needs board members who have a deep appreciation for and understanding of library service; who are committed to the informational, educational, and recreation needs of the community; and who are willing to actively work to accomplish the library’s goals and objectives.

Applicants must live in the town of Westerlo and cannot be employed by or do business with thelLibrary. Mail a letter of interest indicating why you wish to serve, previous library involvement, and any specific qualifications and/or experience that would be of benefit to the library and board of trustees.  Send letters of interest to: Board of Trustees, Post Office Box 267, Westerlo, NY 12193

October programs

The Westerlo Library is offering these October programs:

— Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m.: Youth Opioid Program — Information on opioids and training for Narcan.  There will also be information on internships and scholarships for healthcare careers; and

— Oct. 26 at 11 a.m.: Wills and Healthcare Proxies- What you need to know about wills and healthcare proxies.

On Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 .pm., Jessica Barcomb of Knox will be talking about and signing her book “Letting Go.” 

StoryWalk

For October, the StoryWalk posted in the Town of Westerlo Veterans Memorial Park will be “Pumpkin Heads!” by Wendell Minor. Come take a walk and read a book!

After school

and story time

Lego Club will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Mondays. Come create with Lego!  

Story time is at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. Join Miss Lee for stories, music, and movement.

Homework Club and STEM activities are on Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Get some help with homework and do some STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) activities.

Artist exhibit

For the months of September and October, Laura Tenney will be exhibiting her art quilts in the gallery space of the Hannay Community Room at the Westerlo Library. The exhibit is open during regular library hours.

October Spice

Take-and-Make

The spice for October is curry powder. Pick up a sample and three recipes to try something new. The recipes for October are chickpea and vegetable coconut curry soup, curry broccoli salad, and curry pork chops.

Trustees meet

The next meeting of the Westerlo Library Board of Trustees is Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Hannay Community Room at the library. This meeting is open to the public.
