Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, October 16, 2019
Have you met Shorty? He is a registered therapy dog who will be visiting the Westerlo Library on Oct. 21 and 28 at 4 p.m.
He loves to listen to you read to him, have you pet him, or just be with you after a long day. Come stop by and say hello to Shorty.
Trustees meet
The Westerlo Board of Library Trustees will meet on Monday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. in the Hannay Room at the library. This is an open public meeting.
The Great Give Back
The library has a collection box located in front of the checkout desk, for personal hygiene items that will be donated to the Hilltowns Community Resource Center. Donated items such as shampoo, soap and feminine care items would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Kiwanis Children’s Coat Donation Box
The library has a box for the Kiwanis Children’s Coat Collection. As the weather gets cooler, please be sure to pass along your gently-used coats to the collection box that the library has in front of the checkout desk. The Kiwanis are also collecting warm-item gear such as hats, gloves, and scarves.
New parking lot
Thank you for your patience! We now have a newly paved parking lot and a handicap van accessible parking space near the Hannay Community Room entrance.
This project has been made possible thanks to donations and a grant from the New York State Department of Education.
Technology Walk-In Wednesdays:
Do you have a new smartphone or tablet, but don’t know how to download digital materials? Need to brush up on your computer skills — or obtain basic skills?
See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free, personalized, one-on-one instruction.
Board games and puzzles
Do you enjoy playing board games and putting together puzzles? The library has a selection of both for you to enjoy here in our Hannay Community room.
Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while working on a puzzle. Come play a game or two with your friends. The community room is a great place to spend time together.
Lego Club
Do you like playing with Legos? How tall of a tower can you make? Can you design a secret hideaway for your favorite superhero?
Drop in on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to play and create with Legos. Miss Lee is also available for homework help.
Story time
Join Miss Lee Wednesday mornings beginning at 11 a.m. for stories, songs, and movement activities designed for infants to children up to 5 years old. Story time is a great opportunity for caregivers and young children to meet new friends and start on the road of a lifelong love of reading.
