Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, October 9, 2019

We appreciate your patience as we continue the parking-lot project. The Westerlo Library looks forward to having a smooth, paved parking lot very soon.

Please check our website and Facebook page for a notice that the library will be closed for one day during the actually paving. As soon as we know that day we will publish it.

Technology Walk-In Wednesdays

Do you have a new smartphone or tablet, but don’t know how to download digital materials?  Need to brush up on your computer skills – or obtain basic skills? See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free, personalized, one-on-one instruction.

Memoir Writing Group

The Memoir Writing Group will meet Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. This group provides its members a safe and supportive place to learn together. Led by Lila Hollister Smith, the group is open to all who are interested in self-expression through the art of writing. The group meets once a month on the second Saturday of each month and new members are welcome.

Artists’ Group

The Artists Group will meet Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 2:15 to 4 p.m. This group provides its members an opportunity to make art together in a spirit of fun and support. Led by Lila Hollister Smith, the group meets the third Tuesday of the month in the library’s Hannay Community Room, which is also an art gallery.

Beginners are welcome. Bring paper and pencil. If you can sign your name, you can learn to draw!  Experienced artists bring your favorite medium.

Open Book Discussion Group

The library’s book discussion group will meet Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. No assigned reading for this Open Book Discussion Group. Come share the books that you have been reading this month with the group. New members are welcome!

Lego Club

Do you like playing with Legos? How tall of a tower can you make? Can you design a secret hideaway for your favorite superhero? Drop in on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to play and create with LEGOs. Miss Lee is also available for homework help.

Story time

Join Miss Lee Wednesday mornings beginning at 11 a.m. for stories, songs, and movement activities designed for infants to children up to five years old. Story time is a great opportunity for caregivers and young children to meet new friends and start on the road of a lifelong LOVE of READING.

Shorty, a registered therapy dog, will be visiting the library on the following Mondays Oct. 7,  21, and 28 at 4 p.m. Come celebrate Dog-tober and relax with Shorty. He loves to be petted, is a great listener and a very sweet dog.
