Westerlo Library Notes for Tuesday, October 4, 2022
The Westerlo Library is offering these October programs:
— Oct. 12 at 11 a.m.: Medicare Program — Find out what your options are for Medicare;
— Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.: Opioid/Narcan program- Information on opioids and training for the use of Narcan;
— Oct. 18 at 10 a.m.: Chair Yoga — bring a scarf or yoga band and learn some yoga;
— Oct. 19 at 11 a.m.: Identity Theft — Learn the signs and how to reduce the risk of identity theft;
— Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m.: Youth Opioid Program — Information on opioids and training for Narcan. There will also be information on internships and scholarships for healthcare careers; and
— Oct. 26 at 11 a.m.: Wills and Healthcare Proxies- What you need to know about wills and healthcare proxies.

StoryWalk
For October the StoryWalk posted in the Town of Westerlo Veterans Memorial Park will be “Pumpkin Heads!” by Wendell Minor. Come take a walk and read a book!
Programs are Back!
Storytime, Lego Club and Homework Club returned to the library in September. Starting Sept. 12, Lego Club will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, StoryTime will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, and Homework Club and STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities will be on Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
Artist exhibit
For the months of September and October, Laura Tenney will be exhibiting her art quilts in the gallery space of the Hannay Community Room at the Westerlo Library. The exhibit is open during regular library hours.
October Spice
Take-and-Make
The spice for October is curry powder. Pick up a sample and three recipes to try something new. The recipes for October are chickpea and vegetable coconut curry soup, curry broccoli salad, and curry pork chops.
Book Club
October’s book club meets Oct. 13 (the second Thursday). The book is “Eternal” by Lisa Scottoline. Copies are available at the circulation desk.
