Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, September 16, 2020
Do your little ones like story time and outdoor fun? Now they can enjoy both by taking a StoryWalk at the Westerlo Town Park!
As you read “Lion Lessons” by Jon Agee together, your child will be encouraged to engage with the story. Each page has an activity card that asks the child to look for objects on the pages, count objects, and even roar like a lion!
The StoryWalk begins at the park pavilion. Look toward the yellow side of the closest post to find the next page. (The pages are numbered.)
Many thanks to our friends at the Upper Hudson Library System, the Westerlo Town Board, Jody Ostrander, and Laura Tenney for helping to make this StoryWalk possible.
The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Fergusson of Montpelier, Vermont and developed with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
Homework
help is here
We are now offering hours that will cater to families with children who want homework help or are home schooling. Mondays from 2 to 3 p.m. and Thursdays and Fridays from 6 to 7 p.m. are now reserved for families and older students to come in and get homework help. These hours will allow families to come in, while wearing face coverings for the protection of our staff, and use the Wi-Fi inside on their own devices.
For our homeschooling families, our Youth Service staff will provide monthly theme based STEM [science, technology, engineering, math] kits for family’s to take home and do. Kids love STEM and these kits will make both learning and teaching fun! The theme for the September STEM take-home kits is Weather.
Two ways
to serve you
The library is now serving you in two convenient ways. We have contactless pick up service on our porch. After you place your holds, we will call you to schedule a pick up time. Your items will be waiting on the porch for you at your scheduled time. It’s that easy.
For those of you who want to come in and browse, we continue to have a limited number of appointments available. Please check our website https://www.westerlolibrary.org/ or call 518-797-3415 during our regular hours for an appointment or porch pick up. At this time all visits to the library are by appointment. Properly worn face coverings are required during your visit.
If you have any questions on how to safely get library materials please give us a call at the library and one of our staff members will be happy to help you out.
Please note our service hours are now from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. and Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday.
