Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, August 17, 2022

Take a StoryWalk in the Westerlo Veterans Memorial Town Park to read Lauren Child’s book, “I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato.”

Story time, Lego Club, and Homework Club are returning to the Westerlo Library in September.  Starting Sept. 12, Lego Club will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Mondays, story time will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, and Homework Club and STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities will be on Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

August Spice

Take-and-Make

The August spice is garlic powder. Pick up a sample and three recipes at the library. This month’s recipes are Homemade Teriyaki Marinade, Garlic Roasted Brussels Sprouts, and Pimento Cheese Macaroni Salad.

Third Thursday

Book Club

September’s book club meets Sept. 15.  The book is “The Lost Apothecary” by Sarah Penner.  Copies are available at the circulation desk. 

New StoryWalk 

The StoryWalk in the Town of Westerlo Veterans Memorial Park has changed. Now posted is “I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato” by Lauren Child. Come take a walk and read a book! 

STEAM ahead 

August’s theme for STEAM take-and-makes is “Oceans of Possibilities” to go along with the Summer Programs. There are new kits every week.   

Artist exhibit 

Come see the work of Bente Hirsch in the gallery space in the Hannay Community Room. Bente works in oils and pastels, and her favorite subjects are the Hilltowns. Her work will be on exhibit for the rest of August. The gallery is open during regular library hours. 

Trustees meet

The Westerlo Library Board of Trustees will meet on Wednesday, Sept.14 ,at 7 p.m. in the Hannay Community Room at the library. This meeting is open to the public.
