Westerlo Library Notes for Friday, August 12, 2016

Congratulations Shirley Michaels! Long-time library employee Shirley Michaels has retired after 18 years of service.

As is often the case in small libraries, Shirley did it all from cleaning to curating monthly exhibits for the display case,  and everything in between. But, her real talent was helping patrons find just the right book to read next. While there were big changes in technology at the library during that time, good customer service never changes.

We thank her for her service and wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.

Shirley’s future plans include spending more time with her grandchildren and, of course, reading.

Book talk

The library book discussion group will meet next Thursday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. at the library. This summer we’re going to lighten up and let our reading take us to the beach or the mountains or wherever your ideal vacation destination is.

If you can’t get away this summer, a good book can take you there. Read for pure pleasure and share your favorites with the group. Please join us.  New members are welcome.

Summer Reading

Our 2016 summer reading program is in full swing. With the theme On Your Mark, Get Set, READ! we are exploring sports, games, and activities that promote good health and fitness with books, science experiments, art projects, and other activities. Registration is ongoing and a full calendar of events is available at the link on our website www.westerlolibrary.org

Technology walk-in Wednesday

Do you have a new Kindle or Nook but don’t know how to download books? Need to brush up on your computer skills or obtain basic skills? See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., for free, personalized, one-on-one instruction.
