Lefty and Angus, registered therapy dogs, enjoy hearing kids read outside at the Westerlo Library on Saturday, June 10. “Our thanks to Eric Markson and Laura Tenney for volunteering their time and sharing their dogs with us,” said Sue Hoadley, the library’s director.

Join Miss Lee at the Westerlo Library on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for homework help, games, crafts, puzzles, music, and a lot more. Programs will also include storytelling, hands-on demonstrations, and visits from special guests. Lee is also available on Thursdays from 3 to 8 p.m. for homework help.

Arts and crafts

New!  Wednesday mornings from 10 to 11 a.m., Miss Lee will present a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math program aimed at a variety of age groups. Each week will feature a different STEAM-based activity with hands-on crafts and demonstrations.

Story time

New!  Due to popular demand, story time is moving to Fridays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. One Friday per month, Miss Lee will present stories, songs, and movement activities designed for infants to children up to 5 years old.

In addition to developing pre-reading skills, singing, moving to music, and playing instruments all help foster a sense of rhythm and timing that are essential elements in developing the part of a child’s brain that shapes math skills.

Story times are also a great opportunity to meet other parents of small children in Westerlo.

Technology Walk-In Wednesdays

Do you have a new smartphone or tablet, but don’t know how to download digital materials?  Need to brush up on your computer skills – or obtain basic skills?  See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free, personalized, one-on-one instruction.
