Westerlo Library Notes for Friday, April 21, 2017
The Quilting & Fiber Arts Group will meet next on Saturday, April 22, at 11 a.m. at the Westerlo Library.
We are expanding to include anyone who likes to work with fabric, threads, or yarns. Please join us and get acquainted with others who share your passion. We will trade tips and techniques as well as show off our projects to each other. There will be monthly themes, lessons, demonstrations and challenges.
The theme for April is dolls. For “show and share,” bring your own handmade dolls and any questions you have.
Led by Lila Hollister Smith, this group is open to all crafters who use fibers and textiles at all skill levels. The group meets once a month on the fourth Saturday of each month and new members — and casual visitors — are always welcomed.
After school
Join Miss Lee on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for homework help, games, crafts, puzzles, music, and a lot more. Programs will also include storytelling, hands-on demonstrations, and visits from special guests. Lee is also available on Thursdays from 3 to 8 p.m. for homework help.
STEAM
New! Wednesday mornings from 10 to 11 a.m. Miss Lee will present a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math program aimed at a variety of age groups. Each week will feature a different STEAM-based activity with hands-on crafts and demonstrations.
Story time
New! Due to popular demand, story time is moving to Fridays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. One Friday per month, Miss Lee will present stories, songs, and movement activities designed for infants to children up to 5 years old.
In addition to developing pre-reading skills, singing, moving to music, and playing instruments all help foster a sense of rhythm and timing that are essential elements in developing the part of a child’s brain that shapes math skills.
Story times are also a great opportunity to meet other parents of small children in Westerlo.
