Westerlo Library Notes for Thursday, February 14, 2019
The Westerlo Library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18, in observance of Presidents Day.
Artists Group
The Artists Group will meet Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 2:15 to 4 p.m. This group provides its members an opportunity to make art together in a spirit of fun and support.
Led by Lila Hollister Smith, the group meets the third Tuesday of the month in the library’s Hannay Community Room, which is also an art gallery.
Beginners are welcome. Bring paper and pencil. If you can sign your name, you can learn to draw! Experienced artists bring your favorite medium.
Book talk
The library’s book discussion group will meet Thursday, Feb. 21, at 6 p.m. (new time!). Read for pure pleasure and share your favorites with the group. Please join us. New members are welcome!
Story time
Join Miss Lee Wednesday mornings from 11 a.m. to noon for stories, songs, and movement activities designed for infants to children up to five years old. In addition to developing pre-reading skills, singing, moving to music, and playing instruments all help foster a sense of rhythm and timing that are essential elements in developing the part of a child’s brain that shapes math skills.
Story times are also a great opportunity to meet other parents of small children in Westerlo.
Technology Walk-In Wednesdays
Do you have a new smartphone or tablet, but don’t know how to download digital materials? Need to brush up on your computer skills – or obtain basic skills? See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free, personalized, one-on-one instruction.
