Westerlo Library Notes for Thursday, February 13, 2020

The Artists Group will meet Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 2:15 to 4 p.m. This group provides its members an opportunity to make art together in a spirit of fun and support. Led by Lila Hollister Smith, the group meets the third Tuesday of the month in the Library’s Hannay Community Room, which is also an art gallery.

Beginners are welcome. Bring paper and pencil. If you can sign your name, you can learn to draw!  Experienced artists, bring your favorite medium.

Book talk

Read for pure pleasure and share your favorites with this group. The Open Book Discussion Group meets on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 2 pm. Please join us. New members are welcome!

Technology Walk-In Wednesdays

Do you have a new smartphone or tablet, but don’t know how to download digital materials? Need to brush up on your computer skills — or obtain basic skills? See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free,  personalized, one-on-one instruction.

Story time

Are your little ones getting cabin fever? Do they need some space to move around? Some music and movement to Raffi and Sesame Street will help cure that at story time. Join us Wednesday mornings at 11 a.m. for stories, songs, and movement activities designed for toddlers to children up to 5 years old.

Please note there will be no story time on Wednesday, Feb. 12, but it will be on during winter break on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Lego Club

Lego Club is a great time where kids can relax and learn at the same time. Drop in on Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to play and create with Legos. Come join the fun!

Please note: There will be no Lego Club on Feb. 17, due to the library being closed for Presidents’ Day.

Day of Fun

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, during February break, the library will have Drop-In Fun Activities planned from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Blotley, a coding robot, will be available for children to play with. Lego Club will also be set up for fun play. Come drop in any time while the library is open on Wednesday to play with your friends.

Homebound Delivery Service

Can’t make it to the library? Let the library come to you! Maybe you’ve had surgery or just don’t drive anymore.  If you would like to take advantage of borrowing books, movies and audiobooks, your public library is standing by to help!

Our Homebound Delivery Service is a free library delivery service provided to the residents of the town of Westerlo who are unable to visit the library. If you think this service might be right for you — or a friend or family member — call (or visit) the library during regular business hours at 518-797-3415.

The library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 17, in observance of Presidents’ Day.
