Westerlo Library Notes for Wednesday, February 5, 2020

The Westerlo Library’s  Memoir Writing Group will meet Saturday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. This group provides its members a safe and supportive place to learn together.

Led by Lila Hollister Smith, the group is open to all who are interested in self-expression through the art of writing. The group meets once a month on the second Saturday of each month and new members are welcome.

Artists’ Group

The Artists’ Group will meet Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 2:15 to 4 p.m.  This group provides its members an opportunity to make art together in a spirit of fun and support. Led by Lila Hollister Smith, the group meets the third Tuesday of the month in the Library’s Hannay Community Room, which is also an art gallery.

Beginners are welcome. Bring paper and a pencil. If you can sign your name, you can learn to draw!  Experienced artists, bring your favorite medium.

Book talk

Read for pure pleasure and share your favorites with this group. The Open Book Discussion Group meets on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. Please join us. New members are welcome!

Technology Walk-In Wednesdays

Do you have a new smartphone or tablet, but don’t know how to download digital materials? Need to brush up on your computer skills — or obtain basic skills?

See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free,  personalized, one-on-one instruction.

Story time

Are your little ones getting cabin fever? Do they need some space to move around?

Some music and movement to Raffi and Sesame Street will help cure that at story time. Join us Wednesday mornings at 11 a.m. for stories, songs, and movement activities designed for toddlers to children up to 5 years old.

Please note there will be no story time on Wednesday, Feb. 12, but it will be on during winter break on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Lego Club

We have recently had a generous donation of more Legos to our club. The club members have been enjoying discovering new pieces that we didn’t have in our collection before.

That glorious sound of digging through a bin of Legos, hearing someone call out, “Oh, cool! Look what I found!” — and sharing what they have created with each other makes Lego Club a great place where a kid can relax and learn at the same time.

Drop in on Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to play and create with Legos. Come join the fun!

Please note: There will be no Lego Club on Feb. 17, due to the library being closed for Presidents’ Day.
